San Francisco Employment Law Attorneys - Overtime Class Action Lawsuit Against R + L Carriers

The Nelson Law Group is serving as plaintiffs' counsel in a class action lawsuit charging that R & L Carriers Shared Services, LLC, unlawfully refused to pay overtime compensation to City Dispatchers and other employees engaged in dispatching job duties. The lawsuit alleges that these practices violated both the federal Fair Labor Standards Act, as well as various state wage-and-hour laws.

The proposed class in this lawsuit consists of hundreds of current and former employees who are, or were, employed as Dispatchers by R & L Carriers Shared Services. The plaintiff who initiated this lawsuit, Glenn Hill, worked long hours as a City Dispatcher without ever receiving pay for overtime or required breaks for rest or meals. His lawsuit seeks compensation for overtime worked by both himself, and all others who worked as Dispatchers but who never received overtime pay or meal and rest breaks.

On January 22, 2010, the federal judge who is hearing the case conditionally certified it as a "collective" action under the Fair Labor Standards Act. A copy of the judge's order can be found here. Other Dispatchers may now join the case, if they so choose. On February 23, 2010, a mailing went out to current and former Dispatchers who can participate in the case notifying them of their right to participate.
